Founded in 1978. Our mission is to assist the Jewish needy of Los Angeles by providing a variety of family services with the utmost level of dignity and discretion.
Our programs help those without work find jobs, start businesses & earn livelihoods. They provide clothing and furniture, assist with utilities & rent in emergency situations, help children obtain Jewish educations and direct those in need to the proper social service organizations. On a weekly basis we provide food for the week, Shabbat and the holidays. This weekly support restores spirits and allows the Sabbath to work its healing magic on families in need.
There are many thousands of individuals in the greater Los Angeles area who live below the poverty line. Due to lack of sufficient funding, Tomchei LA is only able to assist a small portion of these individuals.
Your contributions will enable Tomchei LA to assist many more of these individuals who so desperately need our help. Tomchei LA is solely donor funded. So together, let us help those who can not afford to help themselves.

I was helped in my job search greatly by the LA JobLink initiative provided by Touch of Kindness. They gave me advice, support and chizuk in my job search in an understanding and warm way. They still keep in touch with me to see how my job is going as well. I refer all my friends that are having employment issues to look into LA JobLink as well. I can’t say enough what a blessing it was to be introduced to them.
I wanted to thank you – see how your trip went – thank you – see how things are coming along – thank you – is there anything I can do – thank you – to let you know that we are slowly and with Hashems help (and you being his instrument) getting our head above water – thank you. thank you – thank you – thank you – THANK YOU! (Words really cant describe – very hard to put structure to it and that is also part of the reason why you have not seen / heard of me since you got back) You’ve done so much and I’m a big fan of not abusing (enough is enough is enough is enough – thank you – thank you – thank you – its too much – thank you) and please understand that if it had the slightest nuance of being excessive, its really because we had no choice – so thank you…
Thank you for creating the One a Kind Clothing Boutique. It has really brought a “ Touch of Kindness into my closet”.
We dread the days before Yom Tov knowing that we won’t be able to afford the pricey modest clothing needed for our family Yom Tov.
However with One of a Kind I was able to find clothes for my entire family from our infant to my Husband. Clothing that was brand new, in style, fit perfectly and for a fraction of the cost.
Thank you for bringing so much Joy into our Home.

I’ve been meaning to write this for about six weeks. I have a favor to ask of you. I received a check from Tomchei Shabbo before Succos. Could you please relay a very big thank you to the person or people that made the request for this check to be written, I would have needed to borrow money to cover my expenses for Yom Tov. It really brought a lot more Simcha to Yom Tov without having to borrow that money. So please give the benefactors of this gift my wishes of good health and continued Bracha and Hatzlacha in everything they do for them and their entire family.
“Thank you so much for facilitating the beautiful chol hamoed trip our family enjoyed this Sukkos. With three full days of chol hamoed this year, the prospect of taking a large family on trips everyday was a bit overwhelming. Amusement park tickets for our whole family are definitely not in our budget, and how many parks and/museums would our kids be willing to go to? Not only were the tickets such a treat, but by giving this opportunity to such a large segment of the community, you actually turned Knott’s Berry Farm into a heimish place full of frum people that was delightful to spend a day of chol hamoed- complete with mincha minyanim!
Thank you for your generosity and tizku l’mitzvos!
